Why it pays to pay an experienced photographer...

I have often heard people talk about a friend who just got a new camera and is only charging them fifty bucks to do their photos.  I totally get that, especially in our economy; however, there are certain photos that mark monumental moments in life and there is no amount of money you can pay for a do-over.  Senior pictures, for example, will most likely be on the wall or in the entryway for years to come.  So before you consider an amateur, be sure you understand that you often get what you pay for.  Here is a sample of a before and after senior picture.  Edits include skin smoothing, eye brightening and sharpening, spot details, and several filters bought from Paint the Moon Photography.  All edits are done in Photoshop, a professional application that requires training to use.  I say all of this not to say "Pick me!" but to say, choose wisely.  There are a LOT of great photographers out there.  They may seem too pricey, but I promise you that if they are good, one of their photos may take them at least 30 minutes to edit WELL.
